The Rory 2025 - Non-Competitor
For many years, climbers gathered in the Free State to celebrate the life of Rory Lowther – an iconic climber and beloved member of the Highveld scene. The Rory is more than just a comp: it’s a festival of climbing, laughter, and connection. A reminder of how short life can be, and how important it is to share good friends, good food, and good days out on rock.
This year, CityROCK is stepping in to help keep the magic alive – taking care of organisation, admin, ticket sales, and prizes.

Tickets & Shirts
🎟 Tickets: R100 per competitor | R50 per non-competitor
👕 Shirts: R200 each (pre-orders open 1–9 September)
Tickets and shirt pre-orders go live Monday 1 September, registration and payment will go directly through CityROCK with a portion of the proceeds going to the MCSA, Lowther fund and local rebolting funds.
Event Highlights
- Climbing Rally: Teams rushing into the mountains to climb as much as possible.
- Spectator Comps – The Burnathon (15:00–16:00): Cheer, laugh, and join in the fun.
- Prize Giving & Bring & Braai: Wrap up the day in proper Rory style.
