NOTE: All participants will need to register with the event team at De Pakhuys on either Friday evening or Saturday morning to compete. There will be a compulsory event briefing at 8am on Saturday, after which the competition will kick off!
All attendees (non-climbers and spectators included) need a Rocklands Bouldering Permit!
From 1 June 2014 no access allowed anywhere in Rocklands without this permit. Also available from de Pakhuys office and campsite, CapeNatures' Kliphuis Campsite and the shop at Travellers Rest.
The name of the game is to climb as much as you can and as hard as you can from 8:30am to 5:30pm on Saturday 30 August, after which we’ll tally up the numbers, crown the winners, and party the night away!
Competitors will keep track of all climbs on an online scoresheet which must be submitted by 6pm; points will be awarded for every boulder problem sent on the day, and the top three highest-scoring competitors in each category will win some exciting prizes from our sponsors.
There will also be plenty of spot prizes up for grabs, and there are chances to win no matter your skill level or outdoor climbing experience!
Full event details will be emailed to participants in an information pack closer to the time, and you can follow CityROCK Cape Town on Facebook and Instagram for more updates as we get closer to the big day.
The competition will be based at De Pakhuys in the Cederberg, which boasts a stunning campsite and is offering a whopping 50% OFF their usual camping fee to celebrate their 20th anniversary, get with two nights of camping for just R120!
While De Pakhuys will be our home base, participants are welcome to stay at any of the available accommodation options in the area, which include Alpha Excelsior (CityROCK members get 10% OFF at Alpha Excelsior Guest Farm), Traveller’s Rest and Rocklands Basecamp.
Note: Camping tickets bought on MMO are only valid for the nights of 29 & 30 August – please visit the campsite office when you arrive at De Pakhuys if you’d like to stay any extra days. 50% off camping at De Pakhuys special ends 31 August 2025. All campers must have a valid Rocklands bouldering permit, those without will need to pay the difference on arrival.
Friends and family who don’t climb are very welcome to come along to cheer you on and enjoy the vibes! Non-competitors will not need to pay the rally entry fee, but they will need to pay for their accommodation and climbing permits.
